Sure, maybe it's impractical to believe that anybody would stumble across this particular website without knowing what a CMS is. I'm certain that most of the people who will ever read it will either be friends of mine, people who stumble onto my site from some forum somewhere, or webmasters looking for a free open-sourced CMS.
But if you're on the fence and don't know quite what a CMS is or why you'd want one (or for that matter, what types of CMS are out there), this section should help you out at least a little bit. Hopefully I can explain some of the background information that's so often assumed on other sites and help you learn about the various aspects of CMS to consider when deciding what to put in place for your site.
Simple is not a profit-making venture for me. While I hope users who select simple will be happy with their choices I also recognize the value of providing site administrators with the information they need in order to make a well-informed choice.
